As a proud graduate of South Carolina public schools, I deeply value the education that has shaped my journey. To ensure every South Carolinian has access to quality education and its lifelong benefits, I advocate for 3 crucial policies to enhance our national education system. These measures will provide all Americans with the resources and opportunities needed to pursue education and embrace lifelong learning.
Currently, only Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma provide universal Pre-K – an initiative that should set the standard nationwide. This critical investment in early childhood education will pave the way for equitable opportunities and brighter futures for all children across America. I will vote for universal free Pre-K across the US, ensuring to continue strengthening our education system and the next generation.
Quality education requires excellent teachers, inclusive curricula, and unbiased instruction in history and current events. Yet, our Republican representatives in Congress are disregarding our constitutional separation of church and state by endorsing book bans and other attacks on education. Our children deserve truthful, nonpartisan learning environments. As a parent and as your representative, I will advocate for secure, authentic classrooms and welcome inclusivity in schools to protect the next generation of learners.
American Public Universities are supposed to foster lifelong learning, but now, they are preventing it with higher and higher tuitions. Students are confronted with the daunting prospect of going deep into debt before they even begin adulthood. Roughly 43 million Americans have outstanding federal student loan debt — that’s about 13% of the U.S. population, per census data. We’ve seen that free tuition at public and technical colleges has increased student enrollment and supported populations in countless ways. It is time for the US to follow example and support the future of our country. I will vote for tuition-free public and technical colleges and the forgiveness of student loan debt.
